The best thing about that blue interior is that after twenty years no two pieces are even close to the same color anymore.

(Thinks about Detroit’s quality control, in general, in 1995)... that assumes that they were ever close to being the same color.

It’s a factory feature.

I’m assuming that they were close enough to be passed by a fifty-eight year old UAW man with suspenders and failing eyesight in a three second inspection holding a grimy paper sheet color sample, all under a very yellow incandescent bulb covered in shop-dust.

Twenty years later, the main pigments have all faded so much that the constituent tinting pigments of various depths in the materials and various binders have gone to war, kind of like the Balkans.

I’m pretty sure even the fifty-eight year old UAW man would look in the cabin and say, “nah” at this point. If it wasn’t a Friday.

I was thinking of replacing the Roadmaster with one of these ... but nobody is willing to buy the Roadmaster.

He’s got a solid 40-60K miles left on those gaskets.

I had one of these for my first car! 1990, Automatic, V6, with over 300,000 miles on it. Managed to put another 25,000 before the engine quit on its third rebuild. Hey, at least it was free* (It was given to me by my uncle who remembered that he had abandoned it on an empty lot, and found the car still there 7 years later, after which I sunk 3k to ‘make it nice’.)

I know it’s an old post but.. That’s the one to have! These are childish giggle fun cars to drive. A 95 SC with the F150 (Mazda sourced) 5 speed is a helluva car.

I’ve never seen a Thunderbird! Nice to know that, before they got ruined, they were okay.
